Knock
On the 14th of September we headed off to knock. We left the school at eight thirty and arrived at knock around eleven thirty. When we arrived at knock we got name tags. Then we went in sat down and paddy the SVP leader talked about what we were going to do and who we were going to be listening to. We were introduced to the first speaker of the day which was Peter Mcverry . Peter Mcverry is a man that set up his own hostel for homeless people to stay in. He joined the jesuit order in 1962 and was ordained in 1975. He worked in Dublins inner city and saw young homeless people on the street this is were he got the idea of setting up a shelter. He has now been doing that all his life. The second speaker that we got introduced to was John Lonergan who was a man who worked as a governor at mount joy prison all his life. He talked to us about doing this to the best of our ability. Then we got lunch for an hour. Then we got introduced to the third speaker who was someone who was talking about the environment and about what will happen to the earth in the future if we stay burning and using fossil fuels. The fourth and final speaker was a girl who was born without any limbs. Her name was Joanne O'Riordan. She talked to us about her life without limbs and how she achieved so much.
Reflection:
Looking back on the speakers I feel inspired about what they said and it made me realise how much more I have than others.
